change you, you change

"Have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. Don't search for the answers, which could not be given to you now, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer."
-Rainer Maria Rilke

I love that quote.
So much to be figured out.
Yet the whole 'figuring it out' deal is the best part.
--
I learned something important today, too. Nothing happened,
but I was taught by that still, small, voice as I was walking down the stairs
into the library.
I love it when that happens.
So, I've been stuck in this situation lately,
where I've been getting caught up in the little things
and not enjoying things as they are.
Today I was taught that we can't change others.
Most of the time it's not the "others" that need the changing
in the first place.
But rather....
it's us.
--
So I got a new perspective, a new outlook on my situation.
I saw what I was doing wrong,
instead of focusing on others' wrongs.
And poof! just like that.
The situation improved.
Funny how that works.
